 IMPROVING GOALKEEPER SKILLS

As a goalie, you not only serve as your team's final line of defense, but your leadership and organizational abilities also play a role in their success.

SKILLS THAT MAKE YOU A BETTER GOALKEEPER

Consider football to be a chess game. Every person on the ground has a critical role to play. However, as a goalkeeper, you are the only player on the 18-yard box who can use his hands without the referee blowing his whistle.

1: IMPROVE YOUR COLLABORATION WITH YOUR COLLEAGUES

You have the advantage of seeing the game from a different perspective than your teammates as a goalkeeper.

You can keep an eye on your opponents and give orders to your colleagues accordingly.

Be consistent and self-assured and maintain communication with your teammates, particularly your defenders.

When you're on the ground, use short words rather than a sentence to avoid confusion.

2: LEARN HOW TO MAKE FOOTBALL WORK FOR YOU.

If you want to learn how to become a successful goalie, you must master the art of passing the ball to your teammates fast and accurately.

There are two methods to go about it:

Kicking:

Goal kicks are a great way to get your squad started on the right foot.

The importance of accuracy cannot be overstated. Compare the benefits of going short or starting from the rear vs going long.

Drop-kick is a good option if you need to go a long distance to reach a specific teammate.

Throwing:

Consider throwing under arm by quickly rolling out the ball while defenders rush to the ball and begin the counterattack.

3: DON'T GIVE IN TO FAILURE

Goals are scored even with high vigilance and skilled play!

Successful goalies, on the other hand, do not let the negative aspects of the game affect them.

Whatever happens, you must play the game with the same spirit and drive for success until the end.

4: TAKE RESPONSIBILITY IN THE PENALTY AREA

You must control this part of the pitch like a goalkeeper. Good penalty area management necessitates smart game intelligence and good location!

It is critical for you to maintain an athletic stance when between the sticks as a goalkeeper. To demonstrate readiness, players take a neutral stance with flexible elbows, feet apart, and hands in front.

5: BECOME AN EXPERT AT HANDING CORNER KICKS

First and foremost, decide on your position. Follow the ball's trajectory/curve. If the ball is swinging in, get closer; if it's swinging out, keep your distance.

While saving the ball, defend yourself from the opponents by extending your knee outward. Catching the ball at its highest position is always preferable. Alternatively, you can simply punch the ball away with your fists.

Allow one of your teammates to handle the ball if it is too far away.

6: IN SOME SITUATION YOU NEED TO BE AGGRESSIVE

When it comes to defending in soccer, aggression occurs when you are certain of your position, your teammate's formation, and when you know when to charge your opponents.

Increase the size and threat of your presence to the attacking opponent. When necessary, run towards them and push them to decrease their shooting angle.

Wait for your opponent to make the opening move and then grasp the opportunity to pounce.

Examine the opponents' body language with care.

7: FOLLOW YOUR EYES BY YOUR HANDS

Keep your eyes on the ball. While the attacker's leg movements can be confusing for a goaltender, keep in mind that your objective is to keep the ball out of the net.

8: BE PREPARED FOR ANY SITUATION

Perform cognitive exercises that help you build a positive outlook to improve your mental attentiveness. You can, for example, picture yourself playing a game in various clashing circumstances and learning from your actions.

You might be having a tough day at work. Don't let your spirits sag. Even the world's top goalkeepers make mistakes. It's all about how quickly you can make up for any mistakes and make the following save.

Coordination of hand and eye movements can aid you in analyzing your opponents and saving the ball at the proper time.
