TIPS FOR BETTER SHOOTING IN SOCCER
Tips and techniques to be better shooter in soccer
We've compiled a list of tips to assist you in boosting your shooting skills. Put these into training, and your charge ability will improve with time.
1. Keep an eye on the goalkeeper's position
Because the goalkeeper is in the middle of the goal, shoot the ball near to the corner. Above or below the goalkeeper, shoot the ball. For goalies, diving upwards or downwards is more difficult than diving straight across the goal. The "upper 90," or top corner of the goal, is the best spot for a shot.
2. Where to kick the ball
Paying attention to where you position your foot will help you kick more accurately and with more momentum. Problems with your kick can be solved by properly positioning your foot. If you kick the ball in the centre yet consistently kick it over the goal, you are putting your place foot behind the ball. Rather, it's a level playing field with the ball. Push off your kicking foot, then shift your place foot forward to the proper position.
3. When striking, head down and eyes on the ball
While kicking, don't glance at the defenders or the goal. Keep your gaze fixed on the ball at all times. Your accuracy and power will improve. What you aim to achieve determines where you look at the ball. In most cases, aim for the center of the soccer ball. It's difficult to stop the habit of looking up when kicking. Every player enjoys admiring their kick. However, it is worthwhile to break the habit. You won't see as much of your kick, but the ball will go into the goal more frequently.
4. Put your other foot next to the ball
The ball's path is determined by where you place this foot. Place it next to the ball, shoulder width apart from your other foot. You should feel at ease at a good, medium distance. Maintain a straight line to the goal with your toes.
When you need to raise the ball higher, such as when kicking over a wall of defenders, moving your foot further away from the ball helps.
5. Make contact with the ball from the middle to the top half
The type of kick determines where area of your foot should make contact with the ball.
Kick the ball using the inside of your foot for a ground pass and the sole of your foot for a direct kick, for example. Power and precision will be harmed if your foot is flexible. Your foot should be solid and straight after you've locked your ankle. If you can master this, you'll notice an improvement in your kicking accuracy.
6. Following through
Focus on following through. It has a significant effect on your kick. Following through adds a lot of power and precision. If you don't finish, you're essentially chipping the ball rather than kicking it.
Continue your kick after you've made contact with the ball to follow through. To improve accuracy, keep working toward your goal. If you want to shoot the ball higher makes your leg go higher after kicking it. If you want to drive a kick, keep your leg at a medium height and take a step forward with your kicking leg instead of lifting it into the air.
